Street artist Astro creates an illusion of depth, Jacksonville, Florida 2016

Art (Re) Public Jacksonville, founded and curated by Jessica Santiago in conjunction with Iryna Kanishcheva, has invited international renowned street artists; Case Maclaim, James Reka, INO, Waone of Interesni Kazki, Kenor, CYRCLE, René Romero Schuler, Astrograff, Nico Holderbaum, Phlegm, Borondo and more.

Astro was excited with his walls for Art(Re)publicJax, due to their size and adapted himself to the shape of the two walls in order to create an illusion in depth. Astro has created his own world by exploiting the subtlety of shadows and lights, the strength of colours, and the perspective of depths. He specifically chose the turquoise colour because it represented the spirit of Jacksonville well.

Astro deceives the viewer’s eye by distorting the flatness of facades and paintings, creating impressive optical illusions. Check out the final wall below…
