The Crystal Ship announce their artist line up, Ostend Belgium 2019

The Crystal Ship is back in Ostend for it’s fourth festival from 13th – 21st April 2019! “The Dictatorship of Art” will be conquering the harbour city with world-famous artists, murals, debates, talks and installations.

The Crystal Ship align themselves with the German conceptual artist Jonathan Meese, who since the early 2000s has cultivated a persona as a propagandist for what he calls the Dictatorship of Art.

Meese passionately states that Art rules the world, is total leadership and is number one. Art is the leader, art is no human being, art is total power and art is stronger than religion, politics and self fulfilment.

Crystal ship absorbs Meese’s energy and brings his Dictatorship of Art to the city of Ostend, that already hosts more than fifty permanent artworks. This year ten more murals will be added, two gigantic sculptures, a series of smaller interventions, three school projects and  artist in residence, Wasted Rita will be choosing the dictatorship of art!

Artists invited this year include Case Maclaim (DE) , Crystal Wagner (USA) , David Walker (UK) , Escif (ES) , Helen Bur (UK) , Jaune (BE) , Leon Keer (NL), Lonac (HR) , Marina Capdevila (ES) , Miss Van (FR) , Mohamed l’Ghacham (ES) , Paola Delfin (MX) , Tom Herck (BE)  and Wasted Rita (PT).

Juxtapoz will be hosting artist talks at Kapp and an official opening party on Saturday 13th April in collaboration with Instant Karma. The musical line-up consists of: The Glücks, La Jungle, Material Girls and a DJ set by Thibault (Equal Idiots) and Stijn Vandevoorde (StuBru).

We can’t wait! Art will take us there.
