SPECTRUM Street Art Festival New Zealand

The southern hemisphere’s largest Street Art event announces its latest show – 12 December 2015 through 17 April 2016 -Oi YOU! plus YMCA produce the largest street art festival in this part of the world and they are proud to announce their latest summer SPECTRUM exhibition.

With 7 exhibition spaces, 10 big city centre walls, 15 of the world’s best street artists, SPECTRUM promises to take street art in Christchurch to the next level.

The YMCA’s huge building on Hereford Street is the festivals home, there visitors will discover different exhibition spaces and explore street art from every possible angle. Beyond what’s happening inside, visitors can download the Street Wise app and take to the city streets to hunt down the next 10 big walls to be transformed into stunning works of art.

“We’re so excited about the next SPECTRUM Festival; last year was great, we learned heaps about the venue and were able to use that experience to fulfil our vision of creating an immersive experience where visitors move within artwork not just view it” George Shaw SPECTRUM Festival Director

Christchurch will again be treated to a truly international line up with more countries represented than ever before; these international stars will be complimented by an array of New Zealand’s finest. Flox, Selina Miles, Sofles and the DTR Crew to produce a series of stunning, interactive installations at the venue.

This is our third festival in Christchurch, the city is already gaining a global reputation as a city of street art and SPECTRUM will add to that legacy with another series of huge, central city walls being transformed into awesome works of art. But what’s most exciting is the redevelopment of the venue at the YMCA which will, after SPECTRUM closes, be transformed into the world’s first purpose built street art venue.

“This is what will really cement the city as a major international street art destination” George Shaw

Check back at a later date to see more walls popping up around Christchurch.
