You choose the destiny for Innerfields latest street art mural, Art United Us, Ukraine 2016

Innerfields was invited by Art United Us to paint in Kiev, Ukraine, as part of the ongoing project to promote peace. Innerfields consist of 3 artists born in West and East Berlin. As a group they have existed since 1998. Growing up with graffiti and various influences.

Innerfields painted a huge mural titled ‘Present’ for Art United Us. The mural depicts a woman hugging a white figure… the person she is hugging is not present physically. There is a sense of presence in the eyes of the woman and for the viewer of the painting. The image is in the balance between the presence and absence of someone. It’s telling a story about being close and missing something. The mural deals with desire and interpersonal relations.

The white arrow is important to the theme of the work and has many different levels of interpretation. One connection it makes is regarding the arrows of amor, that have the power to let people fall in love with each other. Another is the arrow has the potential to hurt physically or mentally.

The arrow symbolises many things and destinies and that was important to Innerfields that there is not one fixed idea and in line of interpretation to their artworks.

“The recipient is the one who creates a new meaning to the Artwork coloured by his experience and cultural heritage. One has the chance to get in a dispute regarding the aspects of the artwork he is most connected with. And hopefully we create communication and reflection among the spectators.” Innerfields

Art United Us project unites two hundred artists through mural art and the promulgation of maintaining peace on Earth, and is curated by Geo Leros, Iryna Kanishcheva and Waone Interesni Kazki.

Check back at a later date for more murals being created in Kiev, Ukraine.
