NeSpoon
The lowdown on NeSpoon
Nespoon works at the intersection of urban art, painting, and ceramics, transforming traditional lace into a contemporary visual language. Her intricate, symmetrical motifs draw from historic lace-making traditions as well as patterns found in nature, including flowers, snowflakes, and marine forms. She is internationally recognised for monumental murals that translate delicate lace structures onto architectural facades across cities worldwide. Alongside these public works, Nespoon creates ceramic pieces cast from real lace, preserving fragile textile patterns in clay. Since 2019 she has also developed a parallel graffiti practice. Using hand-cut stencils derived from antique lace patterns sourced from different cultures, she repeatedly paints these motifs across urban environments. Through these unsanctioned placements, Nespoon reframes graffiti as connection rather than confrontation. Whether legal or illegal, her lace becomes a thread between people and place, revealing balance where lace and concrete coexist.
