A Floral Mural by Sophie Mess in Reims
Known for her striking, large-scale botanical compositions, Sophie Mess brings her internationally recognised visual language to the Champagne region with a piece that radiates colour, energy, and stunning intensity. Her mural unfolds across the wall in a sweeping composition of luminous florals, where delicate gradients of violet, blush, and blue merge with remarkable precision. The petals appear sculptural, creating a sense of movement and depth that transforms the concrete surface.

Sophie Mess has developed a global presence through her distinctive floral works, which often evokes vitality, connection and calm. In Reims, this balance feels especially resonant. The mural carries an international narrative that began in New York City, where Sophie Mess spent time in the studio of artist Doan Ly.

Immersed in a process of arranging flowers and capturing their forms through photography, this period of exchange became a quiet foundation for the work now realised in Reims. Titled Shared Connection, the mural reflects this cross-cultural dialogue, tracing a line from an intimate studio setting in New York to a monumental public surface in the Champagne region. In this way, the piece embodies not only a study of botanical form, but also the relationships and shared moments that shape Mess’s evolving practice.
