Description
“Toxic Beach” is based on a painting by self-taught Scottish artist Jack Vettriano called “The Singing Butler”. The original painting became a best-selling image in Britain in 1992 and sold at auction in 2004 for a record-breaking £744,800, making it the best-selling art print in the UK.
As for “Toxic Beach”, the original was displayed at Banksy’s “Crude Oils” exhibition in Notting Hill in 2005. Interestingly enough, artist Mason Storm executed the painting, and he has since independently produced a limited edition of 100, signed by himself, Mason Storm as the artist, and not Banksy.
