Bache Unveils New Mural Exploring Lineage, Magic, and Natural Balance, Wuppertal
Mexican street artist Bache has unveiled a new large-scale mural titled Light and Temperance, painted in Wuppertal, Germany. The work presents a visually striking and symbolic reflection on one of humanity’s most enduring cardinal virtues: temperance, understood here as the ancient force of natural balance that sustains life, community, and the wider universe.
Light and Temperance transforms the wall into a contemporary myth, revealing a layered visual narrative in which stars, nature, humanity, lineage, magic, mycelium, life, and death intertwine. The mural invites the public to consider the unseen connections that shape existence, and the delicate equilibrium required to live in harmony with the world.
A Grandmother as the Source of All Living Lineage
At the heart of the mural is a powerful central figure: a grandmother, portrayed as the origin point from which the lineage of all living beings emerges. In Bache’s visual language, the grandmother becomes both symbol and guardian, representing memory, continuity, and the generational thread that binds human life to the rhythms of nature.

A Vision Faithful to the Universe
Bache describes the mural as invoking a force created by a kind of witch or magician, granting humanity a vision faithful to the universe. This poetic framework positions the work at the intersection of realism and mysticism, where transformation is not only physical but perceptual. The mural proposes that to see clearly is to recognise the interconnected systems beneath everyday life, from the celestial to the microscopic.

Nature’s Hidden Networks in the City
A key motif in the mural is mycelium, the underground network through which ecosystems communicate and survive. By bringing this symbol into an urban environment, Bache highlights the idea that even within the city, life is sustained by invisible relationships, shared resources, and mutual dependence.
The work also references the fragile power of the butterfly effect, suggesting that even the smallest action can create meaningful or meaningless consequences across time and space.

With Light and Temperance, Bache continues his practice of creating murals that are not only visually compelling but philosophically resonant, offering the public an artwork that encourages reflection on balance, responsibility, and the profound interconnectedness of all living things.
