Cyndie Belhumeur Intertwined Perspectives mural: Geometry, Perception, and Urban Dialogue in Laval
Cyndie Belhumeur mural Intertwined Perspectives unfolds across a residential façade in Chomedey, Laval, transforming architecture into a layered field of movement, colour, and optical tension.
Created in collaboration with the Municipal Housing Office of Laval and the Integrated Urban Revitalisation Committee of Chomedey, the mural reflects Belhumeur’s ongoing investigation into how line, rhythm, and structure can reshape everyday urban environments.

Installed within a lived-in neighbourhood, Intertwined Perspectives responds directly to the building’s geometry. The mural’s intersecting diagonal lines stretch across brick surfaces, bending around corners and edges, creating shifting planes that activate the architecture rather than simply to decorate it.

As viewers move through the space, the composition appears to reorganise itself, producing a constant recalibration of depth and alignment.

The Cyndie Belhumeur mural as a Technical and Spatial Challenge
For Cyndie Belhumeur, this project presented a technical challenge of the kind she embraces. Working at scale, across multiple planes and angles, required absolute precision.

Each line had to remain optically coherent while navigating architectural constraints such as corners, window placements, and changes in surface texture.

The mural’s palette, composed of layered reds, blues, yellows, and greens, enhances this sense of interconnection. Colours overlap and intersect without hierarchy, reinforcing the idea of coexistence rather than dominance. The architecture becomes a framework for visual dialogue, where no single perspective is fixed.

Collaboration at the Core
The real strength of Intertwined Perspectives lies in its collaborative foundation. The project was realised with the support of the Municipal Housing Office of Laval and the Integrated Urban Revitalization Committee of Chomedey, alongside the Ville de Laval and its dedicated team. This collective effort ensured that the mural remained rooted in its community context while maintaining a strong artistic vision.

Belhumeur also acknowledges the contribution of Ludovic Mio, whose assistance and creative presence played a key role during production.

A Mural That Lives With Its Environment
Unlike murals designed for instant impact, Intertwined Perspectives rewards prolonged observation. Light shifts across the surface throughout the day, altering colour relationships and intensifying the illusion of movement. The mural feels responsive, attuned to both its physical setting and the daily lives unfolding around it.

With the Cyndie Belhumeur Intertwined Perspectives mural, public art becomes a tool for attentiveness. It invites viewers to notice how architecture guides vision, how lines can connect rather than divide, and how abstraction can quietly enrich shared spaces.
