Madrid-born and Barcelona-based Rubén Sánchez, also known as Zoonchez, is a self-taught Spanish artist whose vibrant and graphic style has left an exciting mark on the street art scene. Emerging from the subcultures of graffiti and skateboarding in the 1990s, Sánchez’s work seamlessly blends elements of cubism, abstraction, and Mediterranean influences, resulting in compositions that are both visually striking and thought-provoking.
His artistic journey took a significant turn in 2012 when he was invited to a year-long residency at Tashkeel in Dubai. During this time, he painted the first public mural in the UAE, marking a pivotal moment in his career. Sánchez’s murals, sculptures, and installations have since graced walls in cities such as New York, Miami, London, and Istanbul, as well as in humanitarian projects in refugee camps in Jordan and Greece
