This work begins with a discarded can from the Essential range, found and repurposed by the artist. Its dents, folds and traces of use remain visible, preserving the object’s history of anonymity and disposal rather than concealing it. Within the circular opening of the crushed can, a painted face emerges. The figure’s green gaze meets the viewer directly, appearing both sheltered by the metal surface and quietly exposed. By intervening in a discarded object, My Dog Sighs shifts its meaning. What was once overlooked or cast aside becomes a singular presence, inviting reflection on value, attention and the fragile boundary between waste and worth.
