It’s Better When We’re Together: My Dog Sighs’ New Mural at LOOK UP Portsmouth

This weekend, LOOK UP Portsmouth welcomed a new addition to its city-wide festival map: Number 11, Bonchurch Road. Here, celebrated local street artist My Dog Sighs has painted a series of colourful Everyman figures, titled “It’s Better When We’re Together.”

The mural transforms an otherwise normal brick wall into a joyful gathering. The Everyman, My Dog Sighs’ signature characters, has always represented the universal human spirit, vulnerable, searching, hopeful. Here, painted in vibrant colours, red, blue, yellow and clustered together, they celebrate connection, belonging, and the simple truth that community is stronger when shared.

Reflecting on the work, My Dog Sighs shared:

“I’m starting to get pieces finished for @lookup.portsmouth. It’s been great to get back out painting again and I love producing these little out-of-the-way spots. The community in this area were really open and interested in what was going on. Someone even told me I should get some tips from ‘that bloke that paints eyes’! More coming soon. City wide.”

The irony, of course, is that he is the very bloke who paints those iconic eyes! Portsmouth is fortunate to hold multiple works by My Dog Sighs, dotted around Southsea and Portsmouth and including his signature eyes!

Now, with It’s Better When We’re Together, the artist shifts from introspection to collective energy, reminding us that art thrives on the streets where community gathers around.

As part of this year’s LOOK UP festival, My Dog Sighs’ new murals and even a beautiful jewellery collection with Charlotte Cornelius Jewellery Design are mapped and waiting to be discovered. We just love the latest piece on Bonchurch Road. It’s Better When We’re Together captures both the spirit of the piece and the festival itself.
