My Dog Sighs at LOOK UP Portsmouth 2025: Seven Walls in Seven Days!

This year’s LOOK UP Portsmouth Festival saw a remarkable contribution from local legend My Dog Sighs, who brought his unmistakable charm to the city with a staggering seven new murals alongside the launch of a brand-new jewellery collection… all within the span of just seven days.

“Well, I’m done. Seven walls and a jewellery collection launched in the last seven days. Huge thanks to all that managed to find me and say hello. Everyone’s support is so appreciated (especially when it’s pouring with rain). I’ve loved seeing so many of you in MDS merch too.”

Rain, long hours, and relentless schedules couldn’t dampen the spirit of either artist or community. If anything, the outpouring of support from conversations on the street to fans proudly wearing MDS merchandise became an integral part of the week’s energy.

A Festival of Community

One of the defining qualities of My Dog Sighs is his connection to people and place. That spirit was mirrored during LOOK UP, where locals welcomed him and offered their walls for his artwork. Endless cups of tea fuelled the creative process, creating moments of hospitality and warmth that are as much a part of the story as the murals themselves.

My Dog Sighs also expressed deep gratitude to the LOOK UP Portsmouth team, whose dedication and hard work ensured the festival ran seamlessly:

“Thanks to the LOOK UP Portsmouth team who worked like troopers. Also thanks to all those people who let me paint their walls!”

With seven new murals scattered across Portsmouth, My Dog Sighs has once again added to the city he calls home. This year offered a rare opportunity to experience the full breadth of his visual language within a single festival, from the colourful Everyman figures to his signature Eyes with their layered reflections, and the intimate whispers of the Quiet Little Voices. Together, these works reveal the many facets of his practice, moving between vulnerability and resilience, spectacle and subtlety, yet always rooted in human connection.

Beyond the Walls

This past week demonstrates My Dog Sighs’ tireless creativity and his unwavering commitment to connecting people through art, whether on monumental walls, as seen in past years; in the delicate details of jewellery created with Charlotte Cornelius; or through more intimate works that nurture everyday moments of community connection.

LOOK UP Portsmouth was, once again, more than a festival. It became a living reminder that when art is woven into the very fabric of a city, it has the power to draw people together… even in the rain.
