Description

The Souvenir Flying Balloon Girl Wall Section is a beautiful piece of art that was exclusively available for in-person purchase at Banksy’s Walled Off Hotel in Bethlehem.

The Flying Balloon Girl wall section may be small, but it’s captivating as it portrays a mysterious figure, which many believe to be Banksy himself, in the process of creating the stencil artwork. The piece features a girl being lifted over the wall while holding multiple balloons, reminiscent of Mary Poppins.

Banksy created the original Flying Balloon Girl, also recognised as Balloon Debate, on the West Bank’s separation wall in 2005. The artwork features a girl holding onto seven balloons as she floats above the 8-meter-high wall built around the Palestinian enclave near the Qalandia checkpoint. This iconic piece is widely believed to symbolise the Palestinian people’s right to freedom of movement, as the girl defies the barrier that restricts their mobility.
