In this intimate work, Shamsia Hassani explores voice, transformation and emotional weight carried within expression. Her familiar female figure appears with closed eyes and no mouth, holding a fractured piano close to her body as if protecting something deeply personal. In Hassani’s imagery, music becomes the language through which her figures speak, and the piano becomes her voice. Cracks run across the instrument, carefully mended with small plasters, while its keys appear slightly irregular, suggesting an instrument altered over time. Through this quiet metaphor, Hassani suggests that even when a voice is shaped by experience, it continues to create new melodies, carrying memory, emotion and quiet resilience.
