The First POW! WOW! Street Art Festival, Seoul, Korea 2017

It has been a super year for contemporary art initiative POW! WOW! taking art and culture around the world with their mural packed street art festivals. We have seen POW! WOW! colour the streets in Washington D.C.Hawaii  ,California and Israel just to name a few this year alone!

Since 2010, POW WOW have brought tens of thousands of people together to celebrate art and music and for the first time ever they have expanded their winning formula to Seoul in 2017, in their conquest to bridge creative communities across the world and create inspirational and aspirational epicenters.

The first POW WOW held in Korea! ran from September 23 to September 30, and invited artists Andrew Hem, Cryptik, Grafflex, Jasper Wong, Jay Flow, Laurence Vallieres, Persue, Royyal Dog, Sixcoin, Tristan Eaton, Xeva & Yoonhyup who produced mural paintings throughout Seoul during the festival.

“POW! WOW! KOREA is dedicated to making the city a more cultural and dynamic place by revitalizing the space on the street through the arts and fostering the pride of the space in the city center. The week-long festival provides an environment where people can experience art in their everyday lives while connecting various parts of Seoul. Mural painting continues from Hongdae through Mullae-dong, Hannam-dong and Sangdo-dong to Yeoido.” POW! WOW!

POW! WOW! KOREA’s finale event took place on the main stage of the 2017 SIFF (Seoul World Fireworks Festival).

Check out the official recap video of POW! WOW! Korea 2017, and watch them paint murals around the city of Seoul, including the tallest mural in South Korea. Directed by Andrew Tran of Redefined Media.
