Bringing communities together in conversation & creative inspiration, through street art

The third edition of Blackburn open walls festival took place from 17th – 22nd July, and was curated by local artist and founder Hayley Welsh. Hayley now lives over the the pond in Australia, but made the journey home to curate the festival and make her hometown of Blackburn beautiful with more art!

Hayley also brought the sunshine with her as the festival basked in Britains record breaking heatwave.

Artists invited to paint were; Phelgm, Add Fuel, Case Maclaim, Isaac Cordal, Hayley Welsh,  Curtis Hylton , D7606, Mr Teaone, Jay Sharples, Boo Who, Mr Christa, Caryn Koh, Andy Faraday and Alexandra Gallagher.

As always the street art tours brought the community together to enjoy the new art works on display.

The locals voted Sheffield artist Phlegm as the winner of this years Blackburn Open Walls PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD. His intricate illustrative black and white design, with its connection to Blackburn’s heritage, made Phlegm’s mural a winner!
