The Crystal Ship by Night, illuminating street art and light installations in Ostend, Belgium 2020

All About Things brings us ‘The Crystal Ship by Night‘, illuminating both existing murals and new works of art to create a magical walk through Ostend at nightfall between December 19th 2020 and January 3rd 2021.

Aryz visited Ostend and in the Conservatorium, he created a work of art dealing with the question “When and where do you feel safe?”

The artist duo Lena Daems and Frederik van Remoortere play with video projections and audio to take you into a nostalgic house that bursts open while a ball grows inside. In this way, they encourage us to think about what “home” really means.

Marina Zumi, an Argentinian now living in Berlin, is inspired by the techno scene of the German capital. She designs surreal light installations, combining them with her street art skills to create impressive parallel worlds in neon and light. In doing so, she wants us to dwell on our own inner light.

Wasted Rita has already designed ironic road signs for Ostend and has created three works for The Crystal Ship by Night. In large neon letters, she shares her sarcastic messages with anyone who wants to read them.

SPY uses an impressive laser installation of more than 500 meters.

The existing murals have also been lit up to create a magical experience in the city of Ostend brought to life by Limen Visual!.

The Crystal Ship encourages safe viewing with their tips on how to keep corona proof.

  • Do the tour only with your significant other or with 3 others from whom you keep at least 1.5 m away.
  • Wear a face mask along the entire route.
  • Disinfect or wash your hands regularly.
  • Too busy in a certain place? Return at a later time!

The route is lit daily from 19 December 2020 through to 3rd January 2021 between 5 PM and 10 PM (except Christmas Eve and Newyears Eve, when there is no The Crystal Ship by Night).
