Hua Tunan (Chen Yingjie)
The lowdown on Hua Tunan (Chen Yingjie)
GUANGDONG , China
Hua Tunan is the Chinese contemporary artist Chen Yingjie, whose practice brings together traditional ink painting, graffiti, abstraction, performance and a longstanding engagement with nature. Known for the explosive physicality of his animal works and monumental murals — a quality that led GraffitiStreet to describe him as the “Bruce Lee of street art” — Chen works through movement, instinct and the intelligence of the body. Across his evolving practice, nature, atmosphere, sound, weather and chance become active forces within the work, extending his distinctive language beyond image-making into a wider enquiry into energy, perception and control.
